International Leadership
Dr. Jennie Ariail served as Course Curriculum Director, “Writing for the Healthcare Professional,” King Abdul Aziz Medical Research Center, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
National Leadership
Dr. Jennie Ariail was named to the Steering Committee of the Medical Rhetoric Interest Group, a division of the Conference on College Composition and Communication. She is also a Consulting Reader for the journal Teaching English in the Two-Year College.
Willette Burnham is a member of the American Council on Education’s Office of Women in Higher Education Network Advisory Board.
Dr. DaNine Fleming is a member of the Executive Board of Tamika & Friends, Inc., a cervical cancer and HPV awareness national non-profit organization.
Geoff Freeman retired as a Brigadier General, U.S. Army Reserve in 2009.
Rebeca Mueller is serving a two-year term on the Board of the National Association for Foreign Students Abroad (NAFSA) Postdoctoral Special Interest Group (SIG).
Bobby Shaw is the State Captain for the Medical Fitness Association.
Dr. Darlene Shaw was elected as President of the Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry and is the Executive Representative to the Alliance for Clinical Education (ACE).
Dr. Tom Smith was selected to serve on the Steering Committee of the Medical Rhetoric Interest Group, a division of the Conference on College Composition and Communication. He also serves as an Opinion Panelist for the National Council of Teachers of English. He also serves as a member of the Regional Committee on Interprofessional Education Assessment, AAMC-Southern Group on Educational Affairs.
Dr. Amy Blue is a member of the Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA) AAMC Steering Committee as a Past Chair, Co-Chair of the newly developed American Interprofessional Health Collaborative, and a member of the AAMC Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC) Committee. Additionally, she serves on the editorial boards of Teaching and Learning in Medicine, BMC Medical Education, and the Journal of Research in Interprofessional Practice and Education.

Willette Burnham is a member of the Executive Board for South Carolina Women in Higher Education.
Laurie Charles is Chair, Health Sciences Advisory Board for the Charleston County School District; serves as MUSC Institutional Representative to South Carolina Women in Higher Education, and is a member of the South Carolina Health Occupations Students of America Executive Board.
George Ohlandt serves on the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education Illegal Immigration Reform Act Committee.
Julie Reese serves on the Executive Directors Committee of the South Carolina Health Insurance Consortium.
Dr. Darlene Shaw serves on the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education Advisory Committee on Academic Programs.

Dr. Jennie Ariail serves on the Faculty Development Domain of the Creating Collaborative Care initiative; the Physician Assistant Curriculum Committee; Apple Tree Steering Committee; Advancement for Women Scholars; Humanities Committee, Chair, Humanitas Reception; National Coalition Building Team; and the Selection Committee for the Ashley River Tower Poetry Project. Dr. Amy Blue serves as Chair of the Creating Collaborative Care Implementation Committee, and as a member of the C3 Assessment Team and C3 Curricular Domain. She is Chair of the Junior Doctors of Health Advisory Board and is a member of the Center for Community Health Partnerships Advisory Board, the MUSC Dietetic Internship Advisory Board, the Education Advisory Committee, and the Department of Family Medicine Pre-doctoral Education Committee.
Dr. Larry Blumenthal serves on the MUSC Infection Control Committee and Blood Borne Pathogen Sub-Committee.
