Email Migration Enters Phase II Email migration to Outlook Exchange and Entourage is entering its second phase at MUSC.
During Phase I GroupWise email account holders were migrated. This process was completed in October 2007 and the GroupWise server has since been shut down.
As we enter Phase II of the migration process, email users who access MUSC email through IMAP accounts will be migrated to Exchange for PC-users and Entourage for Mac-users.
Small groups in each of the areas within our division have been migrated to help determine where specific problems may still be in managing this process smoothly. As OCIO-IS learns from these experiences, the migration process is being modified and improved.
With thousands of individuals to be migrated throughout the campus the current plan is to migrate approximately 30 to 35 individuals each day, 2 or 3 individuals from within an area at a time.
In the most recent evaluation of the time investment to migrate an individual, the average time necessary to successfully complete the process by the OCIO-IS migration team, field engineers and other support staff within the organization has been approximately two hours.
