Greetings and welcome to our brand new online newsletter. I would like to extend my appreciation to Larry Owens and his staff for the design, layout and background work that went into making this possible. Our intention is to keep our staff and colleagues updated on activities, accomplishments, news and highlights. Please send suggestions, feedback and news.
Let me highlight a few things that we are working on.
- Staff recognition program – we are in the early stages of designing some more formal way to say thank you to our excellent staff. A focus group meeting was held with staff from each unit in the Division. We received excellent suggestions on how the program might work. Wendy Littlejohn, George Ohlandt, and Larry Owens are preparing some recommendations based on what we learned.
- MUSC Excellence – we will soon be joining other units on campus that are involved in this improvement program that focuses on improving service to those we serve and to each other. This summer and fall you should hear more about this and perhaps participate in some valuable training. We will be joining the colleges and other academic units in implementing the program.
- Student Leadership Society – this is a new initiative, honoring a select number of students who have made extraordinary contributions to the university as a whole, fostered interprofessional understanding, and been true servant leaders. The first inductees will be announced on April 16 at the Student Leadership Banquet
I enjoyed my experience of meeting many of you personally this year in my one-to-one sessions. What a truly dedicated staff we have. I am blessed to work with you. Stay tuned for more updates by coming to this newsletter site.
