Heather Boger, Ph.D.
Post-Doctoral Fellow

Dr. Boger received her Bachelor’s in Biology in 2001 from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.  She then received her Ph.D. in Neurosciences in 2006 from MUSC. Her major interests are aging and neurodegeneration; cellular and molecular mechanisms of neuronal degeneration and loss of motor function in animal models of Parkinson’s disease; and possible treatment strategies for the reversal of neurodegeneration.

Mona Buhusi, M.D., Ph.D.
Assistant Professor

Dr. Buhusi received her Medical Degree and Ph.D. from the Medical University of Iasi, Romania. Her research interests are molecular and cellular neuroscience.

Larry Middaugh, Ph.D
Professor Emeritus, Senior Mentor

Dr. Middaugh received his Ph.D in Psychology/Physiology from the University of Tennessee.  He joined MUSC in 1970.  Dr. Middaugh’s research utilized murine models to examine long term consequences of exposure to various psychoactive drugs administered to developing, young adult, or aging adult animals.

Kathy Wiley, MD
Associate Professor; Director, Senior Mentor Program

Dr. Wiley received her M.D. degree from the University of Kentucky and completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at MUSC.  She joined the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina in General Internal Medicine in 1980, first as an instructor and later as an Assistant Professor.  Her major areas of interest are clinical care and education.
