Dental Care for the Community

More than 1400 tri-county uninsured/underinsured adults were the recipients of teeth cleanings, dental x-rays, fillings and extractions in Charleston’s first Dental Access Day community outreach project on August 28-29, 2009, at the Charleston Area Convention Center. 

This free two-day event brought together over 110 dental students from the Medical University of SC, 100 dentists, and dozens of dental hygienists and assistants. Specialists provided dental care services to South Carolinians who don’t have access to care.  It’s estimated that the project provided an estimated $600,000 worth of free dental care.
