Recognition Ceremony
 

On June 15 our department honored its graduating psychiatry residents and psychology interns with a ceremony and reception at the Francis Marion Hotel. We are so proud of all that they have accomplished and wish them the best of luck as they continue to the next phase of their medical careers. We have had some outstanding trainees and would like to recognize a few of their many notable achievements:

J.J. Cleckley Clinical Excellence Awards

The faculty nominated two graduating residents who display consistent clinical excellence. This year’s recipients each received a certificate and a monetary award in memory of former chairman and attending faculty member Jennings J. Cleckley, M.D. This year’s recipients are Eric Brueckner, D.O., and Liz Pacheco, M.D. 

Laughlin Psychiatric Endowment Fellow

The Laughlin Family Foundation honors the graduating resident who best exemplifies the important qualities of compassion, leadership and competence. The residents choose the recipient of the award. This year’s winners received a certificate and a monetary award from the Laughlin Foundation. Our 2017 recipients are Mac Abernathy, M.D., and Harsh Soni, M.D.

Psychiatry Golden Apple Awards

Psychiatry Golden Apple Awards were presented to the following:

Chris Fields, M.D., for outstanding medical student teaching by a faculty member
Cat Miller, M.D., for outstanding medical student teaching by a volunteer faculty member

Tyson Lippe, M.D., for outstanding medical student teaching by a resident
Lee Lewis, M.D., for outstanding medical student didactic teaching
Thomas Lewis, M.D., for outstanding medical student didactic teaching
Mary V. Ladd, M.D., for outstanding medical student didactic teaching
