1) Treatment for Adolescents/Young Adults with Alcohol Use Problems

A Behavioral Therapy/medication treatment research study is being conducted at the Institute of Psychiatry for adolescents/young adults between the ages of 15-20 with alcohol use problems. Participants will receive therapy and medication at no cost. Participants will be compensated. Please contact Natalie Johnson at 876-5070 for more information.

2) Adolescents Without Alcohol Use Problems

Adolescents between the ages of 12-20 who are not being treated for an alcohol use disorder and are without alcohol use problems are needed to participate in a research study as healthy controls to measure potential markers for alcohol dependence. Participation includes one visit at the Institute of Psychiatry. Participants will be compensated. Please contact Natalie Johnson at 876-5070 for more information.

3) Bipolar Disorder in Children and Adolescents

Does your Child or Adolescent have Bipolar Disorder? Bipolar I Disorder can be characterized by:
                     *Periods of feeling "high" and/or irritable and restless followed by
                       periods of feeling sad or depressed
                     *Unrealistic beliefs in one's abilities and powers
                     *Not needing to sleep very much

If your child is between the ages of 10-17 and is experiencing any of these symptoms, he/she may be eligible for a treatment research study at the Institute of Psychiatry.

Research study participants will receive study medication (or placebo) and monitoring by a psychiatrist at no cost. All information is strictly confidential. Compensation is available for time and travel. For more information contact Natalie Johnson at 876-5070.
