Getting Started at MUSC

All students should attend Graduate Student Orientation (August 17, 2014) and Department of Bioengineering Orientation (August 19) at Clemson.  International students will also be required to attend a separate orientation provided by the Office of International Services (August 18, 2014).   MUSC also has mandatory Student Orientation but this year, it conflicts with the orientation programs at Clemson, and thus will be performed on an individual basis in Charleston.

Getting Enrolled at MUSC:

All students and postdoctoral fellows will be registered as “Volunteers” at MUSC.  Students and fellows should contact Tommy Gallien (; 843-876-2409) to fill out volunteer paperwork.  This process is required to obtain a MUSC identification badge and usually takes a week or two to complete.  Additionally online OSHA training will have to be performed.

On campus parking can be arranged via the MUSC Office of parking management.  Fees are $90 per semester for students and $61 per month for postdoctoral fellows for on campus parking.  Off campus parking is available at $75 per semester for students and $33 per month for postdoctoral fellows.  Bus service to campus is provided.

Housing should be addressed well in advance of arriving in Charleston.  Please contact Mr. Gallien if you need assistance in this area.
