Admission Requirements
Previous Academic Work and Aptitude Tests
Admission to the MCB program will be in accordance with the general entrance requirements of the College of Health Professions. Applicants are admitted on a competitive basis and are selected from students or graduates who have (1) 90 semester hours of transferable prerequisite courses from an accredited college or university, (2) a competitive GRE score, (3) a competitive GPA, and (4) satisfactory references. Preferred applicants demonstrate a minimum GRE score of 1000 (verbal and quantitative) and a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Completion of a baccalaureate degree is not required prior to entering this master’s degree program.

Health Requirements
All students are required to take the hepatitis B vaccine with the first shot in the three shot series received prior to the first day of class. Proof of vaccination must be provided during registration. Students entering the cytotechnology program must also submit to the department results of a comprehensive eye examination including a color vision test.

Technical Standards/Essential Functions
Technical standards/essential functions for this program include: visual acuity to read, write, discern colors, and use a microscope; manual dexterity to operate electronic equipment; finger dexterity to manipulate small instruments; auditory acuity; and verbal communication skills.

International Students
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for admission for international students whose native language is not English. A minimum score of 550 is preferred. The TOEFL score will be evaluated in conjunction with other academic credentials. Acceptable communication skills including reading comprehension, oral communication, and writing are required.

Application Procedures
Although applications are accepted throughout the year until the class is filled, the application period begins in July for each new cycle. It is best to apply online by January of the year you wish to enter the program. Application materials and transcripts may be submitted prior to completion of all prerequisite courses. Should an applicant be accepted under these conditions, the acceptance will be provisional pending satisfactory completion of these courses.
