Master in Health Administration
This program is offered in two formats: executive and residential.

Residential MHA
Andrea W. White, Ph.D., Residential MHA program director.

The Residential MHA program is designed to develop the health care leaders of tomorrow. Students in this program will gain a comprehensive understanding of the health care system including socio-behavioral components and their impact on health care delivery. They will be able to provide an integrated approach to the management of health care professionals and facility operations as well as to apply concepts and managerial skills in a variety of areas within the health care system. Students are able to take electives in the areas of their career interests. Applications may be obtained online at http://www.musc.edu/es.

Executive MHA
Andrea W. White, Ph.D. Executive MHA program director

The Executive MHA program is designed for working health care professionals who wish to advance their careers. Using a combination of on-campus and Internet-based instruction, the program enables students to complete the coursework in two or three years, while continuing to work and live in their home communities.

Note: The MHA curriculum is almost identical for the Residential and Executive formats. The difference in the two programs is the delivery method and the field internship requirement for the residential MHA students.

MD / MHA

The MD/MHA Program is a dual degree program preparing students in both medicine and health administration. Students who have an interest in both medicine and management and who have already applied and been accepted into MUSC’s College of Medicine may apply for this MD/MHA program. The MD/MHA program can be completed in five years of study.  Typically students complete their first two years of medical school and also six credit hours of MHA coursework on-line.   The third year is spent as a full-time MHA student. During years four and five, as students are doing their clinical clerkships in their medical program, they also complete their remaining MHA coursework primarily through distance education.  Students completing this program are well prepared to understand and manage the administrative aspects of their own practices and/or eventually serve in medical directorships in hospitals and other health facilities.

The Progam of study for the MD/MHA program can be found at Curriculum for MD-MHA Program.
