| Admission Requirements The following requirements must be completed prior to starting the program: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Completion of the GRE with a competitive score at the time of application Minimum undergraduate GPA and cumulative prerequisite course GPA of at least 3.0 Completion of prerequisite courses listed below prior to admission Prerequisites Basic Science: Courses for 'science' majors Chemistry I and II with lab Physics I and II with lab Biology I and II with lab Human anatomy with lab Human physiology Behavioral Science: General psychology Abnormal psychology Introductory Statistics Human growth and development Prerequisite courses may be taken at any accredited institution and must be be completed by mid-May for applicants to be eligible to enter the program. A minimum of 24 semester hours of the basic science pre-requsities must be completed at the time of the application. Recommended courses: Applicants frequently inquire about additional courses that may be helpful to prepare for the study of physical therapy. Benefical areas of study include biology, statistics, exercise physiology, biomechanics/kinesiology, and motor learning. Additional considerations: Although there is no minimum score required for admission to the PT program, GRE scores are used to rank applicants. All applicants must have computer experience with word processing, spread sheets and presentation software such as Powerpoint. CPR Certification must be completed prior to entering the program. The Basic Life Support course for health professionals from the American Heart Association is required. Applicants must provide documentation of 100 hours of PT-specific volunteer of work experience and must provide a reference from the physical therapist who supervised the majority of the volunteer hours. Applications are accepted beginning July 1st for admission the following May.
