| Financial Information Financial Aid Scholarships The College of Pharmacy offers a limited number of scholarships sponsored by alumni; private, corporate and foundation benefactors; and local civic organizations. Each scholarship is awarded based on specific criteria. The criteria may include academic performance, financial need, specific practice interest, etc. Application Process
Applications will be reviewed and recipients selected by the College of Pharmacy Awards, Honors, and Scholarship [COP A/H/S] Committee. Applicants complete one application form as this form is used in the selection for all available scholarships awarded by the committee. While most scholarships are one-time awards, certain scholarships may be renewed upon verification that the recipient has met the stated criteria. Scholarships are awarded and recipients recognized during a formal scholarship recognition ceremony held during the Fall semester. Recipients are required to attend this ceremony as many of the benefactors attend and present the scholarships. The recipient must also write a thank you letter to the individual benefactor or executor of the scholarship fund. For selected scholarships, recipients will also be required to meet informally with the benefactors at other times during the year. Selection Process Students selected to receive scholarships will be notified by July 31. Applicants selected to receive a scholarship must complete and sign a W-9 income tax form and a student biography sheet. Information concerning scholarship recipients will be included in various college and university reports and magazine articles as well as released to the press for publication. Scholarships NOT Administered Through the COP A/H/S Committee [i.e. ‘outside scholarships’] Information received by the COP A/H/S Committee Chairman announcing scholarships not administered through the Committee [‘outside scholarships’] are posted periodically in the Student Activities Center currently on the second floor of the College of Pharmacy building. Announcements of these ‘outside scholarships’ are sent to students via the class e-mail address periodically throughout the year. Interested students are encouraged to routinely review these announcements and apply on an individual basis. Students are also directed to the Student Resources section of the MUSC web page for information on additional scholarships not awarded through the COP A/H/S Committee. 2004-2005 Scholarship Listing The majority of the annual awards arrive at the College late summer or early fall and may/may not be available for the upcoming academic year.
