Annual WOOF awards announced

One of the With Out One Fall certificates was presented to 5SW.
One of the With Out One Fall certificates was presented to 5 SW (acute care setting), April 15.  In 2009 an award system was initiated in keeping patients safe through the Firm Ground Fall Prevention program, known as the WOOF award. The awards were presented  to CTICU 4WY (intensive care unit) and 7C Children’s Hospital (acute care) for having the fewest  falls in 2012. The award for the longest stretch between falls in the acute care setting went to 5 SW, with no falls between April 2012 and February. The MICU on the sixth floor of the university hospital won the ICU award by having no falls between July 2010 to February. Lana Beckley, Firm Ground resource nurse and creator of the award, and Erica Rouvalis, chair of the Patient Safety and Mobility committee, were joined by a large group, including Lucky the volunteer dog,
to present these awards.
