Below is her nomination:

“I am a nurse at MUSC, but recently I was on the other side of the fence. My husband, a Charleston County deputy, was involved in an accident and was transported to MUSC. I arrived at MUSC terrified. Chrissy, literally took me by the hand, very calmly updated me on my husband’s status, reassured me and walked me back to see him. She also found a quiet room for my two children to wait in, and had child life visit and bring some fun stuff to keep them occupied. As nurses, we are often given opportunities to change the lives of patients and their families. Chrissy wasn’t even the nurse assigned to my husband, but since she is also the wife of a law enforcement officer, she recognized an opportunity to make a difference and she did just that. While I can’t say enough about the excellent care that my husband received, I want to recognize Chrissy for going above and beyond. Chrissy is a compassionate nurse and a wonderful example of MUSC excellence."
