The Catalyst

Collected 30,000 books and still counting

Alec Robinovitz, left, joins his sister, Amanda, as they celebrate another successful delivery of books and Alec’s achievement of collecting and donating a total of 30,000 books for young readers in waiting and exam rooms at MUSC Rutledge Tower’s children’s ambulatory clinics. He’s been collecting since 2007. An avid reader, Alec was inspired with this project as a patient in the waiting room with nothing for him to read. Soon after that visit, he started contacting publishing companies and libraries across the country.  In addition, he also has helped box, bag and categorize the books by age group.  Photo provided
