Physical Plant workers showed grit, determination

The news reports of the upcoming storm were effective enough to be taken quite seriously, as opposed to previous weather events.  This feeling was exacerbated by a mandate that all Physical Plant trades workers were required to prepare themselves to stay on campus.

I think the most shocking moment of that time was after spending 32 straight hours on campus, (with little access to news reports from the outside) finally getting to leave and seeing all the destruction.  It looked like a war zone; deserted streets, fallen trees and power line made the roads impassable. There were no radio stations broadcasting, “dead air”.  Round the clock shifts were setup to start patching and repairing the damages on campus.  Since most areas didn’t have power restored yet, coming back to work where there was power and light was nice.
