The Center for Cell Death, Injury and Regeneration which was established in 2006 is headed by Dr. John J. Lemasters. The center provides imaging facility through the use of five confocal microscopes which are also a part of the Hollings Cell and Molecular Imaging Facility. The center also is home to a multiwell plate reader and Seahorse Bioscience facility. Dr. Anna-Liisa Nieminen is co-director of the imaging facility. The facility is managed by Dr. Venkat Ramshesh who takes care of the day to day running, training and maintainance of the confocal microscopes.

The Hollings Cell and Molecular Imaging facility currrently comprises of the following five confocal microscopes:
1.
Zeiss LSM 510 NLO laser scanning microscope with multiphoton excitation is housed in the Quadrangle (Room QE3C2).
2. Olympus FV1000 MPE laser scanning microscope with multiphoton excitation is housed in Quadrangle (Room QF414). This system is a demonstration unit on loaner from Olympus Inc.
3.
BD CARV II spining disc confocal microscope is housed in the Quadrangle (Balance room)
4.Leica TSC SP2 AOBS laser scanning confocal microscope is housed in the Hollings Cancer Center (Room H0704).
5.
Zeiss LSM 510 laser scanning confocal microscope is housed in the Strom Thurmond building (Room 647).
