The strategic goals and objectives of the Center for Health Disparities Research are built around three major priority areas: 1) health disparities; 2) rural health; and 3) disease prevention. |
| Objective 1.1: Conduct innovative research that targets primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of disease in diverse populations. |
| Objective 1.2: Develop and test interventions at the patient, provider, and health systems levels to reduce or eliminate racial/ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic differences in quality of care and health outcomes. |
| Objective 1.3: Develop, test, and disseminate novel interventions to improve health care delivery and health outcomes for rural dwelling residents. |
| Objective 2.1: Develop a data warehouse to store large publicly available national, regional, and local datasets in order to facilitate the conduct of health disparities research. |
| Objective 2.2: Develop a network of community-based clinical sites for clinical translational research and testing of innovative health systems interventions. |
| Objective 2.3: Develop a broader base of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods expertise to provide guidance to investigators on campus who are interested in conducting research on health disparities. |
| Objective 3.1: Recruit and retain new investigators to complement existing expertise and support the mission of the Center. |
| Objective 3.2: Provide training and career development opportunities for new investigators, fellows and students. |
| Objective 3.3: Provide pilot funding and resources to assist new investigators in obtaining independent funding. |
| Objective 4.1: Increase local, regional, and national visibility through local seminar series, scientific publications, and the Center web site. |
| Objective 4.2: Foster and participate in research collaborations, presentations, and educational activities at the national level, including research collaborations with other health disparities research centers nationwide. |
| Objective 4.3: Partner with local, regional, and national organizations and Centers to translate and disseminate research products. |
