Clara Dismuke, PhD

Complete Biographical Sketch


Dr. Dismuke is a Research Health Scientist and member of the Ralph H. Johnson (RHJ) VAMC Research Enhancement Award Program (REAP) which has a mission to develop and test interventions to improve the health of all veterans, with particular emphasis on ethnic minority and rural dwelling veterans. Dr. Dismuke also holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Center for Health Economics and Policy Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Dismuke has conducted research in a wide range of areas as a health economist. She has been funded on grants to examine missing procedure code information in inpatient data, and the financial impact of Spinal Cord Injury on families. She has also worked on grants and published papers in the areas of diabetes and substance abuse. Dr. Dismuke’s research principal interests are in the economic effects of physical and mental disabilities on institutions and families.
