Dr. Maralynne Mitcham receives Eleanor Clarke Slagle Award
Maralynne D. Mitcham, PhD, OTR/L, FAOTA, Professor and Assistant Dean received the 2013 Eleanor Clarke Slagle Lectureship Award at the AOTA Conference in San Diego in April. Dr. Mitcham is recognized for innovation in education, interprofessionalism, and faculty development. Nominated by the MUSC Occupational Therapy Faculty, Dr. Mitcham was commended for the impact of her educational leadership across four decades, her visionary outlook for harnessing interprofessional collaboration, and her dedication to ongoing faculty development. This most prestigious award, first presented by the American Occupational Therapy Association in 1955, is an academic honor established as a memorial to Eleanor Clarke Slagle, one of the outstanding pioneers in the profession of occupational therapy. Dr. Mitcham will have a year to prepare and will deliver her lecture during the AOTA Conference in Baltimore, MD April 3-6 2014.
