AFN Distinguished Alumni Recieves Inaugural Award
The inaugural AFN Distinguished Alumnus Award was presented to Barry Cranfill, CRNA, MHS, MBA, FAAPM during the College of Health Professions’ Anesthesia for Nurses Alumni Luncheon on May 3, 2013.
The Distinguished Alumnus Award is given to a graduate of MUSC’s College of Health Professions’ Anesthesia for Nurses program in recognition of outstanding professional achievement as well as service to the profession, the community, and the College.
Mr. Cranfill was the perfect candidate for this award!
Current president of the Georgia Board of Nursing, he has served as past-president of the Georgia Association of Nurse Anesthetists. On the national level, he serves on several committees within the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, CRNA’s national professional organization.
Additionally, Mr. Cranfill provides the AFN program with multiple clinical sites for CRNAs in various venues and practice settings throughout Georgia. He offers our students clinical experiences unsurpassed by other programs and also provides housing and meals for those same students during their clinical rotation to these sites.
In the classroom, he has generously donated his time and expertise to educate AFN students, discussing the practice models available to them after graduation and clarifying for them the business complexities of Anesthesia for Nurses.
CHP and the AFN program are grateful for his past and present contributions to our program and look forward to working with Mr. Cranfill in the future. Congratulations, Barry on this most prestigious award!
