Certification Examination

The American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion was established in 1975 for the purpose of certifying individuals engaged in the practice of clinical perfusion (CCP). The examination process is divided into two criterion-referenced written examinations: Perfusion Basic Science and Perfusion Clinical Applications.

Admission requirements to the Perfusion Basic Science examination are:

  1. Graduation from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs;
  2. Performance of seventy-five clinical cases while in training;

Admission requirements to the Perfusion Clinical Applications examination are:

  1. All requirements listed for the perfusion Basic Science exam;
  2. Perform fifty clinical cases after graduation;
