Jamie - Physician Assistant Student Ambassador

Hello, My name is Jamie! I'm from Paintsville, KY and I attended Morehead State University and Indiana Wesleyan Unversity. I majored in Radiologic Science and then pursued an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration.

I am originally from Kentucky and am an extreme Kentucky Wildcat basketball fanatic! I’ve lived on James Island for 5 years with my awesome husband and two ornery dogs. We love being outside running, biking, fishing, hiking, camping, hunting or boating. We also enjoy many other outdoor events such as Charleston Riverdog baseball games, the SEWE festival and concerts! Did I mention we like being outdoors? Charleston has the perfect year round weather for enjoying Mother Nature.

MUSC and the CHP offer endless resources to ensure students have endless opportunities to learn and growth. Having multiple affiliated hospitals, clinics, and research institutions on campus allow students to directly gain valuable experience while completing their degree.MUSC also offers many fun undergraduate experiences for their graduate students like intramural leagues, student organizations and a multitude of fun events including a Mr. MUSC pageant and back to school party.

Charleston is a perfect place to spend your graduate career offering outstanding hospitality, wonderful beaches and exquisite cuisine. I love the Saturday morning farmer’s market downtown and finding new local bakeries to enjoy a sweet treat. Did I mention the shopping is also amazing?

I choose MUSC first because of its prestigious reputation and endless opportunities to learn from some of the best in the nation. In addition, the location was perfect considering all the downtown amenities and only being a 15 minute drive from the beach.

Pearl of advice: Graduate school is not undergraduate school. Be prepared to work extremely hard while enjoying everything you learn.
