Admissions Criteria

Early

Applicants with exceptional academic credentials will be considered for early admission.

  • Applicants must have at least 16 semester hours Science/Math prerequisites completed.
  • Graduate Record Exam (all components) must be submitted.
  • Selected candidates will be required to have a personal interview with PA faculty.

Acceptance must be confirmed by payment of a nonrefundable matriculation fee and guarantee fee within two weeks of acceptance offer.

Qualified applicants who are not selected for Early Acceptance will be considered for Regular Acceptance.

Regular

  • Competitive applicants have generally achieved a Prerequisite GPA of 3.0 or higher (this GPA is based on the 90 hours of required prerequisite work)
  • Minimum 16 semester hours Science/Math prerequisites completed
  • Graduate Record Exam (all components)
  • An interview will be required

Acceptance must be confirmed by payment of a nonrefundable matriculation and guarantee fee within two weeks of receipt of acceptance offer.

All prerequisites must be satisfactorily completed with a minimum grade of "C" prior to entry into the program.

Selection Process

In concert with current policies and procedures, candidates will be chosen on the basis of:

  • prior academic work based on Prerequisite GPA
  • GRE scores
  • recommendations
  • noncognitive traits that are desirable in future physician assistants, as well as previous accomplishments, are evaluated during the process

Class selection preference will be given to interviewees with direct "hands-on" patient care experience. Additional value may be added to an applicant for experiences that demonstrate diversity of life experiences or extensive knowledge of health delivery, such as regional or international mission work, volunteer work with charitable or other health care support service, military service, proficiency with foreign language(s), health professional training or certifications, unique leadership positions, or biomedical research activities.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

It is preferred that prerequisite coursework in Science, Math, and Behavioral Science have been completed within the past 10 years. Coursework in these areas not taken within 10 years may not be deemed acceptable by the Program. Please contact an admissions representative for specific questions.

Applicant Feedback

Applicants who are not successful in securing a seat in a class will be mailed a letter with areas for improvement, should they desire to reapply. Applicants may also obtain helpful guidance by attending Open House Sessions or requesting a group or individual interview with one of our admissions specialists. The meetings will be offered on the same days as Open House Sessions and will be by appointment only. Preference for these counseling sessions will be given to applicants who were academically competitive. Additional feedback may be solicited through email or telephone correspondence directed to one of our admissions specialists. Please use the contact information below:
