Maribeth - Physical Therapy Student Ambassador

Hi! My name is Maribeth, and I am a second year Physical Therapy student. Before starting at MUSC, I graduated from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, with a degree in biology.

I am so excited to be in both Charleston and at MUSC! I remember visiting MUSC as a young girl with my father, an alumnus, and I always hoped that one day I could become a student here, too. In the months that I have been enrolled in the College of Health Professions, I have especially enjoyed immersing myself in the PT program and getting to know my professors and fellow students. The PT faculty offers its students a range of both classroom and clinical knowledge, and are representative of some of the best in our field. Interprofessionalism is a key component of education at MUSC, and I have already had the opportunity to collaborate on a project with students in other programs within the College of Health Professions to better understand their unique contributions to patient care.

And what better place to pursue a graduate degree than Charleston! There is never a dull moment in the city, and one can always find something to do from the beaches, cuisine, entertainment, history, and close proximity to other beautiful southern cities like Savannah, GA, and Hilton Head, SC. I am looking forward to continuing to discover the charm of Charleston over the next three years at MUSC.

Following graduation, I currently aspire to work in either a neurological or pediatric physical therapy setting. However, one of the best things about physical therapy is the wide variety of employment settings a PT can seek, so I am open to considering each different area as a possibility.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions!! chpambassador@musc.edu
