Lauren O. - Occupational Therapy Student Ambassador
Hello, My name is Lauren O’Connor and I am from Fort Lauderdale, FL. I attended Florida State University where I studied Psychology.
I love baking, photography, traveling, playing guitar, and my puppy Oliver!
The College of Health Professions is the best college, although I may be a little biased. I always feel that I am being pushed to do my best academically, the professors are wonderful and always there to help, and my classmates are so kind and supportive. All of the staff and students at MUSC really go out of their way to be sure that everyone feels comfortable and finds what they are looking for here. From study groups and campus organizations to social events and medical mission trips, MUSC has it all!
As an out-of-state student moving to Charleston I was completely blown away by everything Charleston had to offer. It is absolutely one of the most beautiful places I have ever been, there is so much to do and so many places to see, and the southern hospitality isn’t so bad either. Charleston really has something for everyone from the shopaholic to the sports fanatic. I guarantee that you will fall in love with this city.
I initially chose MUSC for its amazing location here in Charleston. As I looked more into MUSC I realized what a great school it was and that the occupational therapy program is one of the best in the nation. When I finally had the chance to come up and visit the campus I was completely sold. The occupational therapy program here offers everything I was looking for. Our professors are personable, classes are engaging, we have numerous opportunities for fieldwork and my peers are so creative, fun, and passionate about OT. I love that occupational therapy affords me the option to work with people from all walks of life and that MUSC helps to expose us to all types of settings and specialties. I am open to continuing to explore the field and know that I will love whichever specialty I may choose. I feel so blessed to be a part of the MUSC community and would love to answer any questions about MUSC or occupational therapy! Email me!
