Printing Your CITI Certificate

1.  Click the "Log in to CITI MIAMI" button above and log in with your NetID and password.
2.  Scroll down to the the "Medical University of South Carolina Courses" header and click.  A drop down menu will appear.
3.  Click "View Previously Completed Coursework".  Next to the certificate needed click "View" under "Completion Report". Click "File" at the top of the page and then click "Print" to print the certificate.

 

Getting Started

All users, whether first time or previously registered, will access CITI MIAMI by using their current MUSC-issued NetID and password. When the "Log in to CITI MIAMI" link above (http://www.musc.edu/cgi-bin/citi/login.cgi) is selected, a gray box will open up asking for a NetID and password. Once credentials have been entered, users will be directed to the CITI MIAMI main homepage. 

For Non-MUSC users wishing to take the training, the procedure requires the Non-MUSC individual to be sponsored by a MUSC employee.  The sponsor will contact the appropriate "registration authority" (https://sp.musc.edu/ocio-is/infrastructure/ias/Documents/RegistrarContacts.pdf) who will complete the OCIO Non-MUSC application for a NetID to provision and deliver the NetID.

MUSC and CITI MIAMI have worked diligently to match current users with their NetIDs allowing instant access to their old records. Every effort was made to match current CITI users with their NetIDs. If you experience any issues or have any questions, please contact the following:

Select a Curriculum with CITI MIAMI

Human Subjects - Respond to question 1, 2, and/or 3 if you will participate in human subjects research. 

Animal Subjects - Respond to question 4 if you will only participate in animal subjects research.

IF  YOU PERFORM INDUSTRY E6 GOOD CLINICAL PRACTICE 

Question 1:
Choose "Group 1. Biomedical Investigators and Key Personnel".

Question 1:
Choose "Group 2. Social and Behavioral Investigators and Key Personnel".

Question 1:
"Group 1. Biomedical Investigators and Key Personnel" or "Group 2. Social and Behavioral Investigators and Key Personnel" is required for this course.  If you have not completed either course you need to select the appropriate check box now.  

Question 2:
If you have previously completed an approved Basic Course select "Group 1. Biomedical (Refresher)".

If you have not previously completed an approved Basic Course select "I have not previously completed an approved Basic Course".

Question 2:
If you have previously completed an approved Basic Course select "Group 2. Social and Behavioral (Refresher)".

If you have not previously completed an approved Basic Course select "I have not previously completed an approved Basic Course".

Question 2:
"Group 1. Biomedical Investigators and Key Personnel" or "Group 2. Social and Behavioral Investigators and Key Personnel" is required for this course.  If you have previously completed and the certificate has expired you will need to select and complete"Group 1. Biomedical Refresher" or "Group 2. Social and Behavioral Refresher".   

Question 3:  Only select "Good Clinical Practice and ICH" if your industry sponsored contact requires compliance with GCP and ICH E6. 

Question 3:  Choose "Good Clinical Practice and ICH".

IF YOU CONDUCT OR PARTICIPATE IN ANIMAL RESEARCH

Question 4:

Do you conduct or participate in studies that involve use of live vertebrate animals?

IF YES and you are:

Principal investigator on the protocol.

Not principal investigator on the protocol.

  1. Complete the Working with the IACUC course and the appropriate species specific modules for all species listed on the protocol.
  2. Complete appropriate electives according to your proposed research.
  • Antibody Production should be completed if this procedure is described in the protocol.
  • Minimizing Pain and Distress should be completed if any rodent procedures on the protocol will fall under Category D or Category E. 

Do your duties or role on the protocol involve direct physical contact with live animals?

IF NO: STOP.  No CITI modules required. 

IF YES:

  1. Complete the Working with the IACUC course and the appropriate species specific modules for all species related to your duties or role on the protocol.
  2. Choose appropriate electives according to your duties or role on the protocol.
  • Antibody Production should be completed if this procedure is part of your duties or role on the protocol.
  • Minimizing Pain and Distress should be completed if any rodent procedures on the protocol will fall under Category D or Category E.

Refresher courses are not currently required and WILL NOT be accepted in lieu of Working with the IACUC.

VA Personnel may submit a CITI completion report showing a passing score on Working with the VA IACUC in lieu of completing the Working with the IACUC course.  (Report accessible by choosing "Click here to see your previously completed coursework for Charleston, SC-534".  Print or save page as PDF and submit to iacuc@musc.edu.) 

Transfer Your CITI Training From Another Institution to MUSC

1.  Log into your current CITI MIAMI (non-MUSC) account

2.  Select "Click here to affiliate with another institution"

3.  Complete the required information and Affiliate with MUSC

4.  On the main menu, select “Add a course or update your learner groups”

5.  Please walk through the steps of selecting the correct curriculum for your line of work

6.  If you continue to experience problems with the merging function, please contact CITI MIAMI at (305) 243-7970

Main Menu Options

The following items CANNOT be changed:

1. Email Address

2. Login Information

3. Profile Information

4. Employee ID number (NetID)

If changes need to be made to any of the above items, please contact the University Compliance Office for assistance.

Questions and Answers

  1. What do I do if I accidentally sign up for the wrong course? 

    ANSWER: On the Course page directly under My Learner Tool for Medical University of South Carolina it says:  "Add a course or Update Learner Groups".  If one clicks on this hyperlink it takes you to the "Select Curriculum" page. Here, you can change their selections.
     
  2. When I open my Citi-Miami account, I am not directed to the Refresher Course.

    ANSWER: On the Main Menu, under Medical University of South Carolina Courses, the verbiage “Group 1. Biomedical Investigators and Key Personnel should appear. The course name is in blue and can be clicked. This hyperlink should take you to the Refresher 101 course.

    If not, return to the "My Learner Tools for Medical University of South Carolina" and click the hyperlink “Add a Course or Update Your Learner Groups”.  You will now be on the Curriculum page. In question #1- Select which basic course you have already completed and in question #2 select the refresher course you wish to complete.  Scroll to the bottom of the questions and click the SUBMIT button.  Return to the Main Menu and start the course.
  3. How do I print my CITI Completion certificate?

ANSWER:
