Dr. Amy Blue
Assistant Provost for Education
Director of Creating Collaborative Care

Dr. Blue joined the Medical University of South Carolina in 1998, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002, and received tenure in 2006. She served as the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Evaluation in the College of Medicine from 2001-2008. Dr. Blue received a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California, San Diego in 1984, and an M.A. in Socio-Cultural/Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University in 1986, and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the same institution. Dr. Blue was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Kentucky from 1991 through 1993 where she joined the faculty as an Assistant Research Professor in 1996.

Dr. Blue is very active in national medical and educational societies, having served as the elected chair of the Southern Group on Educational Affairs on the AAMC (2005-2007), elected Chair of the Generalists in Medical Education (2000-2001), and being a member of the Executive Committee of the Society of Directors in Research and Medical Education. She has received several teaching and leadership awards. She held a U.S. Department of Education Fulbright-Hays Fellowship from 1998 through 1999. Dr. Blue has published nearly seventy full-length peer-reviewed manuscripts, and book chapters. She has been principal investigator and co-investigator on numerous grants.
