Selection Process

  • Intellectual capability for successful performance in medical school.

Evaluated by reviewing an applicant’s cumulative gpa and MCAT scores.

  • Noncognitive traits desirable in future physicians

Traits include: integrity, enthusiasm for medicine, interpersonal skills, judgment, and compassion.

  • Accomplishments

Accomplishments include:  letters of recommendation, leadership, volunteer/charitable experiences,      shadowing/clinical exposure to medicine.

  • Added Value

Certain experiences may qualify applicants for added value.  Examples include:  cultural experiences,  research or graduate degrees, artistic/athletic achievements, overcoming adversity, and rural residence.
