Oversight of the diversity efforts within the College of Medicine with special focus on program development and implementation. As Professor of Psychiatry, provides patient care, conduct research and teach psychiatry residents and fellows.

Michael A. de Arellano. Ph.D.
Associate Dean for Diversity

Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and serves as Director of the Department of Psychiatry's Mental Health Disparities and Diversity Program, which facilitates the development of research, clinical and training programs focused on health and health care disparities in mental health. Works with the College of Medicine's pipeline programs and medical student recruitment, and assists departments with implementation of diversity plans and recruitment of residents and faculty.

Director of Education and Strategic Diversity Initiatives

Manages all diversity activities related to students, residents and faculty within the College of Medicine.

Sherrie Nesbitt
Administrative Assistant

Serves as Administrative Assistant to Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education.

E'lisha Simmons, MPA
Manager, Recruitment and Diversity Education
PH 547
Recruits prospective medical students from Colleges and Universities across South Carolina and other schools of interest in the United States. Compiles and develops diversity education materials for the College of Medicine.
