American Pediatric Association New Century Scholars Program

Congratulations to College of Medicine graduate, Dr. Emmanuel Chandler, who is a resident in the MUSC Department of Pediatrics and was selected as an American Pediatric Association (APA) New Century Scholar.  The APA New Century Scholars Program is a mentorship program aimed at increasing the diversity of the academic general pediatric workforce.

The program selects underrepresented in medicine (URM) pediatric residents in their second year of residency who have an interest in pursuing careers in academic general pediatrics or related fields. Scholars continue in the program throughout residency and are matched with junior and senior mentors who provide ongoing career planning support.

Dr. Chandler will receive a travel grant to attend annual meetings, meet with his mentor, and attend a banquet held in honor of the New Century Scholars.
