COLLEGE OF MEDICINE
Resident Diversity
![]() |
The College of Medicine launched a major recruitment effort for under-represented in medicine (URM) residents in 2003, at which time URM residents comprised of 3% (16 out of 522) of our total residents. The efforts of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office, residency training directors and faculty have directly impacted our recruitment. Today, our resident house-staff is comprised of more than 9% URM individuals with representation in more than 74% of the clinical departments.
