Dear Colleagues:

As I shared with you several weeks ago, the search committee for the co-Chair for Neurology, Department of Neurosciences, has been hard at work over the past several months.  I am pleased to announce that the search committee, chaired by Dr. Tom Uhde, has invited several additional candidates to interview for this position to date.  Candidates currently invited to interview are - Jeffrey Loeb (Wayne State University, February 9-10), Tracy Batchelor (Harvard Medical School, March 8-9), Anne Leigh Foundas (Louisiana State University, March 13-14), Robert Messing (UCSF, March 15-16), Bruce Ovbiagele (UCSD, March 26-27), Andrew Budson (Boston University, March 28-29), Maurizio Corbetta (Washington University, dates TBD), and Jonathan Edwards (MUSC, dates TBD).

Earlier today, Dr. Phil Costello sent a letter to our clinical faculty regarding chart abstraction related to the implementation of the new Epic ambulatory electronic medical record system.  Also mentioned in that letter was temporary financial support that will be provided by MUSC Physicians to departments in the form of a bridge loan should collections fall significantly during Epic implementation.  A copy of the full letter from Dr. Costello can be found at:  http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11318946/EpicAbstraction.pdf

As a reminder, the Twenty-Fifth Annual Charity Ball, sponsored by the College of Medicine Student Council and the Medical Student Alumni Council, is being held on Saturday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m. in Memminger Auditorium.  Proceeds from this event will benefit several wonderful community organizations assisting those in our community who are need.  More information about this event, including how to purchase tickets and donate items for the silent auction, can be found at http://www.musc.edu/charityball/.

As always, I look forward to hearing from you via email or when I attend your departmental meetings.

With warm regards,

Etta
