Town Hall Meetings
As you know, I am very interested in hearing from our faculty and all members of the college, and am planning a series of town hall meetings this winter and spring to further our conversations. These town hall meetings are intended to be another opportunity for me to hear from you about issues of importance to the college. The first of these town hall meetings is scheduled for Thursday, January 17, at 4:00 p.m. in 100 Basic Science Building. I hope all members of the college who are able will plan to attend.
Nominations for 2013 Earl B. Higgins Diversity Awards
The MUSC Office of Student Diversity invites nominations for the 2013 Earl B. Higgins Achievement in Diversity Awards. These awards acknowledge persistence and dedication to positive contributions to diversity enhancement at MUSC. There are two awards – one for faculty/staff and one for students – and the nomination deadline is February 1. FAIR CV Database
The MUSC FAIR System (faculty CV database) provides a central source for faculty CVs as well as a data source for college and university administration. CVs are initially input during the faculty appointment process. To ensure that data is complete and accurate, it is important that all faculty update their CVs on a regular basis. FAIR can be accessed at http://fair.musc.edu using your net id. If you need assistance with the FAIR system please contact your department’s Business Manager or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Faculty Affairs Roundtables
The College of Medicine Faculty Affairs Team invites you to attend the next session in the series of Faculty Affairs Roundtables. This session will be presented by Dr. Gary Gilkeson on the topic of Modified Research Track Faculty and will be offered on January 17, 11:30-12:30 p.m., in 628H Clinical Sciences Building. This session is intended to be highly participatory and foster lively discussion, and faculty are encouraged to participate in this event. First Annual Women’s Health Research Day
The MUSC Women’s Health Research Center will be holding its first annual Women’s Health Research Day on Thursday, April 18, 2013. Investigators from across campus are invited to submit their gender/sex-based research for presentation; abstracts are due January 7, 2013. For more information, please visit www.musc.edu/wrc.
As a reminder, we have created new electronic discussion platforms focusing on education, research, clinical affairs, and general information from the Dean’s Office and the College of Medicine. These forums are intended to serve several purposes. First, they are another way for my office to share important information with faculty, staff, and students. Second, they are meant to encourage discussion about issues within the college and to empower everyone within the college to voice their opinions. These “discussion forums” are intended to be not only channels for messages to be sent out, but channels for YOUR ideas, comments and questions to be heard by college leadership.
