AAFP Family Medicine Global Health Workshop - Students are invited to meet with faculty, physicians and other health professionals to learn how to explore options for global health involvement, develop and sustain international partnerships, provide health care and medical education in the context of scarce resources and increase the impact of global health rotations on professional development. The conference will be held from September 6-8, 2012 in Minneapolis, MN. All students are eligible to apply. The deadline for the abstracts is May 15 and the registration increases on July 6. American Academy on Communication in Healthcare (AACH) Research & Teaching Forum - This year’s AACH Forum will take place in Providence on October 12-14, 2012.  The 2012 AACH Research and Teaching Forum will feature research on communication in healthcare, scholarly presentations on teaching communication in healthcare, workshops on research or teaching methods, and special interest group discussion on topics in healthcare communication and relationship-centered care. American College of Surgeons 2012 Clinical Congress - The ACS Division of Education invites students from all four years of medical school to participate in a special three-day program designed especially for them within the ACS Clinical Congress.  Some of the planned presentations and activities are Lifestyle Issues and Your Surgical Career; Social Media and Surgery; Mastering the Surgical Residency Interview, and more. Included in this program is the ACS Medical Student Program Poster Session.  Medical students planning to attend are invited to present their research in one of three areas:  clinical, basic science or educational research.  Medical students submitting abstracts must have played a substantive role in the research.  Abstracts are being accepted online and due by July 2, 2012. CFAR Joint Symposium on HIV Research in Women - The Center for AIDS Research Join Symposium on HIV Research in Women will be held on September 19-20, 2012 in Providence. The workshop aims to bring together investigators involved in HIV research in women to generate collaborative activities and promote opportunities for young investigators. Sessions include, HIV across the Lifecycle, Treatment and Co-morbidities, and Primary Prevention of HIV in Women. All students are eligible to apply. The deadline for abstracts is June 15, 2012.
