Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)
The purpose of this organization is to increase knowledge about the field of PM&R, provide liaisons for clinical experiences and exposure to the field, provide information about PM&R residency programs and matching in the field. promote interactive and interdisciplinary student get-togethers, especially between COM, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy students and participate in service related activities targeting at assisting agencies or individuals actively undergoing or supporting physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R or physiatry) is the branch of medicine emphasizing the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders that produce temporary or permanent functional impairment. These physicians are considered" nonsurgical experts of bone, muscle, and nerve."
