Leadership Development is a key component of the MUSC Excellence Initiative.  The Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is a way to develop leaders' skills to enable the achievement of organizational goals, as well as to improve individual leadership performance in support of MUSC Excellence Initiatives.  LDI training sessions are held at an off-site location every 90 days.


Those in attendance at the LDI are expected to designate individuals who will remain on-site during these meetings to be in charge while the leader is away.  We have full confidence in those left in charge and greatly appreciate their hard work and dedication.

Leader Evaluation Measurement Tool:  The Leader Evaluation Measurement Tool (LEM) is a web-based application designed to strengthen leadership accountability and the performance management process.  The software incorporates three primary tools to promote accountability across the MUSC Medical Center organization.  These tools include:

  • Annual Leader Evaluation - Tool that tracks goal achievement using measurable outcomes, the results of which are the basis for the overall performance evaluation
  • 90 Day Action Plans - Identifies tactics to be used to achieve set goals
  • Monthly Report Cards - Show actual progress made toward goals on a monthly basis
