Patrick Key ’19 did an academic rotation in which he created a college of pharmacy from the ground up. It was like a driver looking under the hood of the car and seeing the amount of metal crammed in there.

“Whenever we think of how much this costs us, we have to remind ourselves of how much is going on in the College of Pharmacy that is funding us,” Key said in a keynote address during the 2018 MUSC College of Pharmacy Scholarship Recognition Luncheon on August 24. “While our tuition is appropriate, it is pretty nice to get some help.”

Key thanked the scholarship donors  for making possible the education he and so many other MUSC pharmacy students have the privilege to receive. This year, 42 titled scholarships representing 101 individual awards and totaled over $171,000 of tuition assistance for students.

As Key finishes his fourth-year rotations, he looks forward to graduating in May.

“Hopefully one day I’ll be able to do this on my own and be able to say, ‘You know what? I really made a difference today.’ ”
