Lecture Marks Watershed Moment of the SCCP Didactic Program
With her cumulative case lecture on cystic fibrosis, professor Kathy Chessman (below) delivers the final lecture of the South Carolina College of Pharmacy (SCCP). The Pharmacotherapy IV lecture was given on April 23, 2018.
After the Class of 2019 graduates, students at the colleges of pharmacy at SCCP founding institutions Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and University of South Carolina (USC) will resume graduating from independent institutions. The education program for fourth-year students is all experiential, so Chessman’s lecture closes out the SCCP didactic program.
The first lecture at SCCP was given by USC associate professor Mike Wyatt (below) in 2006, with a roomful of administrators watching with excitement to see the distance education technology in action. The first class graduated in 2010 and some 1,500 students have completed the joint program.
“Making sure the distance education part of the joint program offered the best education we could deliver was a huge part of our lives for the more than a decade,” said Philip Hall, co-executive dean of the SCCP and dean of the MUSC College of Pharmacy. “It makes the last lecture quite a memorable moment.”
