Epidemiology:

Faculty members in the Division of Epidemiology have expertise in the epidemiology of aging, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, genetics, infectious disease, injury, neurological disorders, oral health, perinatal conditions, and policy, social behavioral and health service utilization determinants of health status and disease. They apply risk assessment techniques to evaluate the potential adverse human health effects of hazardous environmental exposures, such as those of former workers at the Savannah River Site of the US Department of Energy. Two faculty members are Associate Directors in the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center. They lead research in cancer prevention and control and the elimination of cancer disparities, respectively. In addition to conducting their own investigator-initiated research, Epidemiology faculty members collaborate with and provide expertise in study design to researchers in numerous departments across the MUSC campus.
