Computer Service Policies

When a State tagged computer requires any kind of service, a work order must be filed through the web site: Select Computer Assistance Request.

  • If your computer cannot reach the web, you may call in your work order, however, we request you try to use a coworker's computer if one is available.
  • No work will be provided without the completion of a work order. (This allows us to prioritize, organize and track our time while providing service to everyone)
  1. Computer assistance for personal (non-State purchased) computers is limited to providing instruction and software for dialing in to the University from your home.

    Personal assistance and training is available through the MUSC Library. You may register for the first Thursday of every month to bring your personal computer in to the Library for assistance. See the Library web site for training classes: (schedule located under PPP workshop). NOTE: There are many other training classes you can register for at this same site, we encourage you to explore.
  2. Software installed on a computer must have the appropriate licensing. If you are not sure of the requirements for the software in question, you may enter a computer request for the installation and ask for advice prior to the scheduled installation. The Informatics department will advise you at that time.

NOTE: It is important to understand that the computer service provided needs to pertain to your work. Clinical areas have priority over all other requests. And while your may feel your verbal request will only take a second, you may be interrupting service being provided to another that has waited patiently or possibly a large-scale time sensitive project.
