In order to achieve excellence, we subscribe to the idea that our enterprise rests on five pillars of excellence, each with goals:

  • To provide a high quality education that reflects modern clinical practice and prepares dental students for lifelong learning
  • To serve the public with compassion, respect and excellence
  • To provide continuing education programming to dental practitioners in South Carolina
  • To expand programs which provide quality oral health care to underserved populations in South Carolina

People

  • To recruit excellent students reflective of the diversity of the patients they will serve, and to provide a comprehensive learning experience that prepares them for successful professional careers
  • To strategically hire and retain a diverse high quality and productive faculty and staff with the skills, motivation and values to actively contribute to the mission of the college
  • To foster employee pride and loyalty and to provide an environment where all employees can reach their full potential
  • To actively involve alumni in activities and programs of the College

Quality

  • To provide a culture of continuous improvement
  • To assure that the clinical environment is maintained at an optimal level of services and quality
  • To provide quality patient care in a safe environment
  • To assure that space and facilities are developed, managed and maintained to optimize potential for training, research and patient care

Finance

  • To provide the highest value to patients and students while ensuring financial stability
  • To expand development efforts and continue to diversify non-state revenue sources to support the College and its programs

Growth

  • To manage growth to meet the needs of those we serve
  • To continue development and expansion of research activity within the College and with our partners
  • To expand graduate education programs
