A scholarship was created in honor of the first minority graduate of the MUSC James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine to provide financial assistance to under‐represented minority students (Hispanics, Native Americans and African‐Americans). However, it is yet to be fully endowed. Endowing the McTeer Fund, will ensure that a scholarship is awarded in perpetuity by allocating the interest only from the fund annually. The fund currently has approximately $20,000 in contributions; the goal is to endow it to $1,000,000 or more over the next five years. This will provide a permanent scholarship for under‐represented minorities at the College of Dental Medicine that will continue to grow with inflation and future donations.
