Originally from West Virginia, Dr. Coover received his A.B. degree from West Virginia University and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve in 1974. He received his D.D.S. degree from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1978 where upon he entered active service in the Air Force Dental Corps. He completed his General Dentistry Residency in 1989 at Keesler Medical Center, Keesler AFB, near Biloxi, MS. He retired in the grade of colonel from the Air Force in 2007 after twenty-nine years of active duty, to enter the dental education arena. Dr. Coover is a Diplomate, American Board of General Dentistry, and a Fellow, Academy of General Dentistry. He is an Assistant Professor, Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dentistry, Division of Restorative Dentistry. He is a member of the Academy of Operative Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States. He has lectured for the Air Force as well as several local dental societies. He is married to Theresa Robards and his family lives in Mt. Pleasant. Hobbies include photography and computer technology.
