Dr. Sullivan, a native of Kentucky, graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1975 and the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1979. After a one year appointment with the US Public Health Service, he returned to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Medical Center for a General Practice Residency graduating in 1981. Dr. Sullivan accepted a position as full time faculty member at the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1981 through 1984. With a two year stint in private practice as a general dentist, he elected to further his education and specialize in endodontics. Dr. Sullivan completed his endodontic residency in 1988 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Long Beach, CA. He returned to Florida in 1989 where he spent twenty two years as a private practice endodontist in Jacksonville. Dr. Sullivan also served eleven years with the US Navy Dental Corps-Reserve attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Dr. Sullivan joined the faculty at MUSC College of Dental Medicine in February 2012. He enjoys the interaction with the dental students and maintains an endodontic practice in the Dental Faculty Practice Clinic. His personal interests include bicycling, outdoor activities, travel, music, and college basketball especially the UK Wildcats.
