May is perhaps the most special time around MUSC. Warm sunshine, light breezes and the smell of jasmine transform this campus into paradise.
Even more significantly, May marks the time when we celebrate graduation. This month we send passionate, energetic and deserving young professionals into the health care community here in South Carolina and beyond.
Commencement gives us the opportunity to reflect upon not only the lessons learned during a student’s time at MUSC but also upon the people who made this day possible. So many of our students rely on financial assistance from donors who don’t know the students
personally -- but who believe in them all the same.
We want to introduce you to two of those students: College of Nursing graduate April Dove and
College of Health Professions graduate Annie Tsui. April overcame financial and medical obstacles to become a leader in her class with several job offers by graduation. Annie, the daughter of Chinese immigrants, was the first member of her family to attend college. Now, with a graduate degree, she begins a fellowship at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center this summer.
We hope you enjoy these stories, and we also want to know what you’d like to read in future editions of Thank-You Notes. Please be in touch.
