Our Services
EMPOWERR offers HIV and substance use prevention programs that are proven to work and endorsed by the Centers for Disease Control. These programs are provided in partnership with community organizations such as the Department of Juvenile Justice, Florence Crittenton, a group home for pregnant teens,Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center, and other youth serving agencies. Case management services are also available for participating youth and families. Making Proud Choices:  - HIV prevention program emphasizing safer sex, including information about both abstinence and condoms
- Eight culturally and age appropriate sessions, each lasting 60-90 minutes
- Activities designed to build skills to delay sexual activity, to communicate with partners, and to use condoms
- Medically accurate information regarding STD's, HIV/AIDS, pregnancy, condoms, and other birth control methods
- Derived from the Be Proud! Be Responsible! Program, a CDC Best-Evidence Program

- Tailored for use with African American young women
- Sessions utilizing poetry and artwork of African American women, role plays,discussions, and demonstrating use of a condom
- Health educator and peer educators (all trained African American females)
