The process for hiring volunteers for our program is a selective one. Potential volunteers will complete an in-person interview with the Program Coordinator and the Director of Case Management Services and Volunteers. Each volunteer will also undergo a background check. In addition, undergraduate student applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA to be considered eligible to become a volunteer.
Internship hours/Volunteer hours for class credit may be available.
SIHLE and Making Proud Choices Near Peer Facilitators:
Will require at least 8-10 hours per week. Requires evening and weekend work.
The EMPOWERR Program at the National Crime Victims Center at MUSC is looking for energetic and experienced African American female facilitators to serve as peer facilitators for a new program for African American female adolescents. The program discusses dating, relationships, communication, and works to improve a teen’s ability to effectively communicate with sexual partners about safer behaviors. Peer facilitators should also possess the following qualities:
- Good leadership skills
- Outgoing personality
- Strong communication skills
- Passion for helping youth
We are also in need of volunteers who can help transport participants to and from services.
