Loan Repayment Programs

Loan repayment programs offer an opportunity for students to reduce or eliminate their loan debt in return for choosing certain careers, military service, public service, and volunteer work. The amount of your loan forgiven or repaid under a loan repayment program may be considered taxable income. The Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program, Perkins cancellations, and Stafford and Direct Loan Forgiveness offer other opportunities to reduce or eliminate your loan debt. Please check with your lenders and/or loan servicers regarding information on these programs.

MUSC students with federal Perkins Loans should contact the Student Accounting Office regarding the cancellation provisions or call 843-792-2070.
