Protections of an Individual with a Disability (ADA)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities. The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is committed to providing an environment where all students can equally participate in the academic experience. The accommodation of students with disabilities who meet admissions requirements is mandated by both federal and state law. MUSC supports these laws by pledging to comply with their requirements. In effect, every individual and every administrative unit is pledged to make a good faith effort to provide equality of educational access/opportunity to qualified students with disabilities by making reasonable accommodations. ADA complaints are to be directed to the student’s college ADA Coordinator or the 504 ADA Student Coordinator.
